Florence May Bloomer
Florence M. Bloomer, of Brattlboro, formally of Beacon, NY, passed away March 6, 2015 at Pine Heights Nursing Home in Brattleboro, Vermont. Florence was born on March 22, 1927, the daughter of the late Ralph and Mildred Post Parker.
On October 9, 1948, she married Leonard H. Bloomer. Leonard predeceased Florence on November 5, 2014. Florence worked for many years and retired from the Wappingers Central School District. She was a member of St. Luke's Church in Beacon.
She is survived by her children, Paul Bloomer of Brattleboro, VT, and Lisa Sossei and her husband Russ of Schoharie, NY; three grandchildren, Casey, Jesse and Ben; two great grandchildren, Landon and Nolan; her siblings, Anne (Earl) Anderson, Jack (Skippy) Parker and Tom (Nancy) Parker;; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Barbara Laffin and Betty VanTassel.
The family received friends on Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon, NY. A funeral service was celebrated at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Edwin Cromey officiating. Burial followed at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice in memory of Florence.
