On July 29, 2024, Francis J. Lemay “Frank” peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 21, 1931 to the late Arthur & Mary (Bergeron) Lemay, Frank led a fulfilling life that touched the hearts of many. He would go on to marry his best friend and wife of 68 years, Claire(Mailhot), with whom he raised 5 children.
Growing up in Dracut, MA, Frank would eventually settle down in Manchester, New Hampshire. After high school, he honorably served in the Army National Guard for 40 years retiring as a Colonel(COL)(O6). His dedication and commitment to service were truly admirable.
Frank dedicated 35 years to the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier and Supervisor in Manchester, OIC in Milford and Postmaster in Raymond. He also enjoyed working part-time as a bartender at the NH Highway Hotel in Concord, where he had the pleasure of meeting many friends, dignitaries and politicians along the way.
Those who knew Frank will remember his warm and easy-going personality, effortlessly connecting with everyone he met. Frank's love for his family knew no bounds; he was a great listener and always sought opportunities to bring loved ones together. During his leisure time, Frank enjoyed reading, taking walks, watching Red Sox games and solving Sudoku puzzles. Frank was a dedicated parishioner of St Pius X Church in Manchester.
Frank is survived by his devoted wife Claire; daughter Paula and her husband Chris; son Mark and his late wife JoAnn; daughter Carrie and her husband Gary; son Alan and his wife Linda; son Peter and his wife Maggie; along with 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service is scheduled to take place at 10:00AM on Monday, August 5, 2024, at St. Pius X Church in Manchester followed by burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the charity of your choice in honor of Frank.
