Francis (Frank) T. McGarry, 75, died September 8, 2008, at his home after a brief illness.
He was the son of Francis and Marie( Molley) McGarry, born on May 23, 1933 in Bronx, NY.
Mr. McGarry graduated from Gorton High School in Yonkers, NY and joined the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the U.S. Harwood Destroyer as a 3rd class petty officer sonar man following the Navy Reserve for 8 years.
He came to NH to pursue his education and graduated from St. Anselms College in 1958.He got married and returned to Long Island, NY where he attended Hofstra University.
Mr. McGarry worked as a steamfitter and owned several insurance businesses for several years. He relocated to Hooksett, NH in the 1970's and worked for Velcro as a credit manager for many years.
He later owned his own Service Master Franchise and serviced the Concord, Hooksett areas until he retired in 1990.
Mr. McGarry was an avid reader, loved history, theater and enjoyed music especially the Big Bands and ballroom dancing.He was a 3rd degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus council #92 and a member of the American Legion Pose #2.
Family includes his wife of 15 years Estelle (Prenoveau) McGarry of Manchester; two sons Sean McGarry of New Boston, NH and Kevin McGarry of Pompey, NY; three daughters Diane Eatherly of Tabuco Canyon, CA;Susan Denhart of Alamo, CA and Sheila McGarry of St. Petersburg, FL; one sister Clare McGarry of Croton-On-Hudson, NY.; one stepson Richard Nolet of Manchester, NH ; one stepdaughter Cindy Coutu of Bedford, NH ; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
He was predeceased by his first wife Jeannette(Florand) McGarry who died in 1990 and his son Frankie McGarry who died in 2007 and his mother Marie McGarry in 2007.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Ste. Marie Church on Friday September 12, 2008 at 10:00 AM .Burial will take place at 2:00 PM at the N.H. State Veteran Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
