F. Howard "Howie" Blake, 78 of Auburn, NH formerly of Hudson, NH where he raised his family and recently was a resident of Carlyle Place in Bedford, passed away suddenly at the Elliot Hospital on August 5, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston on June 14, 1937, son of the late John E. & Elizabeth (née Chase) Blake.
After graduating from Boston Tech Howie proudly served his Country in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a graduate of the Boston University School of Aeronautical Engineering. He later retired after 37 years from Sanders Associates / BAE Systems as a program administrator. Howie had a passion for sailing and boating on Lake Winnipesaukee and the Intracoastal Waterway, he also enjoyed skiing, fishing and golfing. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and the United States Power Squadron and was also an active member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Nashua. Above all Howie enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Beloved husband of 57 years to Winona (née Witham) Blake, Loving father of Karen E. Blake Pence and son in law N. Kelly Pence of South Berwick, Maine, Margery L. Blake-Hart and son in law Dennis M. Hart of Auburn. Loving "Boppi" of Benjamin Blake Hart, Lindsey Elizabeth Bland and her husband James, Marissa Elizabeth Hart, and Lowell Harrison Pence.
SERVICES: Family and friends will honor and remember Howie by gathering for calling hours at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 250 Coolidge Avenue (corner of Bremer Street) Manchester on Monday, August 10th from 6:30 to 9:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM a The Church of Transfiguration, 1 Hood Road, Derry, NH (www.dcoft.org for directions) Burial will be private.
