Franklin Roosevelt Sleasman, 89, of Manchester, died peacefully surrounded by family on January 2, 2023, at Bedford Hills Care Facility from complications of Alzheimer's Disease.
Frank was born on February 1, 1933, in Indian Head, PA, to the late Grover and Ada (Channing) Sleasman.
Frank was a graduate of Connellsville High School in 1951, Findlay College (now University of Findlay) in 1955 with a B.A. degree. He attended Bowling Green State University and the College of William and Mary. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1955-57.
Frank taught in schools in Findlay, Columbus, Toledo and at the Maumee Youth Camp, Ohio before moving to Manchester, NH. He taught 5th and 6th grade students for over 39 years in the Manchester Public Schools before retiring in 1997. In addition to teaching, Frank enjoyed coaching sports in Ohio and at Jewett Street School. He was a diehard fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, along with all the local Boston teams. Many days were spent with him sitting outside, listening to baseball games on the radio. After retiring, Frank was able to be more active in the lives of his family and pursue his love of flowers and gardening. He also continued his part-time work at Sears for several more years. He remained very active and frequently ran into students he taught decades earlier. He touched many lives through his positive educational presence in the classroom and inspired many to do more and to be better.
Frank is survived by his wife of 64 years, Janis; his children, Perry of Londonderry, NH; Jeffrey of Manchester, NH; David of Toledo, Ohio; and daughter, Vickie of Manchester, NH; as well as his grandchildren, Caitlin, Eric, Scott, Amanda, and Jennifer. He is also survived by his brother Earl (Donna) Sleasman, of Pittsburgh, PA. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Dale, Merle, Glenn, Carl, sister, Ruth Francisco, and daughter in law, Brenda Sleasman.
SERVICES: There are no calling hours or services planned at this time. Interment will take place at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery in Findlay, OH.
