Freya S. (Murphey) Carter, 42, of Bedford died May 21, 2011 at home surrounded by her family and friends following an illness.
She was born on May 27, 1968 in Detroit, MI the daughter of Larry Murphey of Anchorage, Alaska and Jane Auringer Danjin of Port Huron, MI.
Freya attended Cass Technical High School in Detroit and then went on to study at both Vassar College and Antioch University of New England. After her college graduation, Freya moved to Boston, MA where she worked at Perkins School for the Blind. Freya worked as a teacher and school administrator during her career; most recently she was working at Pine Hill Waldorf School in Wilton, NH.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband of 16 years, Christopher Carter of Bedford; son, Charles Carter of Bedford, daughter, Sophie Carter of Bedford and her brother, Brenan Murphey of Port Huron, MI
Calling Hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St, corner of Union St, Manchester, NH on Monday, May 23rd from 5 to 8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Meetinghouse Road, Bedford, NH on Tuesday, May 24th at 9AM. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Manchester NH.
