Gary Sheldon Foote, 82, passed away at the New Hampshire Veterans Home on December 18, 2023. Born in Binghamton, NY on August 10, 1941, he was a son of the late Paul Foote and Philathea (Bolles) Murdock. He shared 44 years of marriage with his wife, Dolores (Buckley) Foote.
Gary was raised in Binghamton and Nichols, NY and was a 1959 graduate of Tioga Central School. He earned his bachelor's degree in 2000 from the College for Lifelong Learning. Gary proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1981 after 21 years of service. Upon return to civilian life, he worked for the Navy Department as a civil servant. Gary was fond of the arts and was a talented writer, poet and painter.
Gary is survived by his wife, Dolores Foote of Manchester; his children, Charlie Foote of Oklahoma; Carey Foote of Hawaii, Sheldon Foote of Manchester, and Derek Foote and wife Anna of Henniker; his siblings, Meleta Baker and husband Dan of Maine, Mark Crimmins-Murdock and wife Marianna of Vermont, David Foote and John Foote of Florida; his grandchildren, Corey, Demetri, Athena, Gavyn and Starr Foote, Alyssa (Cay) Martinez; his great-grandson, Hunter Bowes; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Paula Lane.
Services will be held on Thursday, December 28th at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. Visitation will be from 11AM-12PM with a service in the funeral home chapel at 12PM. He will be laid to rest at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH on Friday, December 29th at 11AM.
