Gene W. Simpson

Gene W. Simpson, 78, formerly of Grantham, died at the New Hampshire State Veterans Home in Tilton on June 1, 2006. He was born in Uniondale, PA on October 25, 1927, the son of Eugene and Mary (Ward) Simpson and had lived in PA and NJ for most of his life before moving to New Hampshire seven years ago. He was a United States Coast Guard Veteran. He attended Lafayette College where he excelled at football. For most of his career he was a publisher for McGraw Hill Publishing Company. He was an avid fisherman. He was the widower of Lillian (Leek) Simpson who died in 2004. Family members include two daughters, Mary Jane Beauregard of Manchester and Carol Kaufman of Uniondale, PA; a son Roy Simpson of Amherst; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two brothers, Lee Simpson of Winchester, VA and Dr. Roy Simpson of Jessup, PA; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Saturday from 7 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be private.
