LITCHFIELD George Blasco, Jr., 59, of Brook Road, died Nov. 15, 2005, with his family by his side, at Elliot Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Blasco was born in Charleston, WV, on July 2, 1946, the son of Grace (Wilkinson) and George Blasco. He was raised in Pemberton, WV and was educated at Sophia High School, and later was graduated from the Rhode Island School of Electronics. He was an avid lifelong learner, taking countless evening classes at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He joined the Army in 1968 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his call of duty, he eventually settled in NH, living in Nashua before moving to the Manchester area and ultimately calling Litchfield his home. Mr. Blasco was employed with BAE Systems in Nashua for 30 years as an engineering assistant, working on military aircraft defense systems. Mr. Blasco was an active member in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Manchester, where he served in many capacities, most recently as Treasurer on the Executive Board. He was an advocate of children with special needs through an adoptive parent support group. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing the guitar and spending time with family and friends. Mr. Blasco is survived by his wife of 11 years, Claudia Boozer-Blasco of Litchfield, his daughter Michelle Smith and grandchildren Michael and Savana of Northwood, his son Paul Blasco of Concord, and his extended family of aunts and cousins. Mr. Blasco will be honored with a military burial at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, at 11:00 on Tuesday November 22. A memorial service to celebrate his life will follow at 1:00 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Manchester, 669 Union Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Moore Center, Titus Avenue, Manchester, NH, or the Unitarian Universalist Church of Manchester.
