Retired Captain Manchester Fire Department George Gravel, 55, of 65 village Circle Way, Manchester, NH died November 24, 2001, at Catholic Medical Center, from injuries sustained in a fall at his home. He was born in Manchester on November 9, 1946, the son of the late Alphee and Georgette (Beaupre) Gravel and had been a lifelong resident of the Queen City. George was a firefighter with the Manchester Fire Department for 21 years and retired as Captain. He was with the Army National Reserve for six years and was an avid golfer and snow skier. Family members include his wife of seven years, Yvette (Garand) Gravel of Manchester, three daughters, Robin Gage of Chester, NH, Renee Raymond and Roxanne Van Der Putten, both of Manchester, five grandchildren, two brothers, John Gravel of Ft. Myers, Florida and Leo Gravel of Concord, NH, two siters, Louise Rossiter of Bedford, NH and Clarisse (Gravel) Charland of Manchester, several nieces, nephews and cousins. SERVICES: Calling hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue, Monday from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock in Ste. Marie Church.
