George A. Helie, 87, died Monday, October 27, 2008 at Elliot Hospital, in Manchester.
Mr. Helie was born on November 10, 1920, in Manchester, NH, the son of the late Arthur and Claudia (Lacombe) Helie. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
Prior to his retirement in 1984, he was employed for 18 years at Sanders Associates, where he worked as a tool crib attendant.
Mr. Helie was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Army. He was a member of the V.F.W., the American Legion, Post # 79, in Manchester, and the A.A.R.P.
He was a communicant of St. Theresa Parish.
Members of his family include; his 3 sons, Albert Helie and Robert Helie, both of Manchester; Roger Helie, of Litchfield, NH; 1 daughter, Therese Boisvert, of Manchester; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Paul Helie and Jean Helie, both of Florida; 1 sister, Yvette Timmins, of Hampton, NH; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Regina (Boucher) Helie, who died in October of 2001.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be Thursday, October 30, from 2 â 4 PM and 7 â 9 PM at The Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, corner of Union Street, in Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, 10 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, 14 Elm Street, in Manchester. Committal prayers and burial will follow at St. Augustin Cemetery, in Manchester.
It has been suggested that those who wish may make memorial gifts to the American Heart Association, 2 Wall Street, Manchester, NH 03101, in memory of Mr. Helie.
