George Katsikas, 87, of 84 Varney Street, died February 19, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua after a short period of declining health. He was born in Manchester on May 25, 1918, the son of Christos and Naomi (Korcoulis) Katsikas and was a lifelong resident of the area. He graduated from local schools and was a World War II Navy Veteran from 1942 to 1945 where he served in the Mediterranean Theatre. He was a seaman first class and served on the LST #4 assault boat. He was a local Golden Gloves boxing champion. He dealt in scrap iron for many years. Family members include a sister, Anne Katsikas Elias of Manchester; a son, Arthur Katsikas and a daughter, Christine Locke, both of Manchester; 16 grandchildren and several nephews, nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by three sons, George Katsikas, Jr. and Daniel Katsikas and Robert Katsikas. A committal service is scheduled for Friday March 3, 2006 at 11:00 in the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
