George Norman Lovejoy, 84, of 161 Lancelot Avenue, Manchester, died February 21, 2001, at the Elliot Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Somerville, Ma., on June 12, 1916, the son of George and Norma (McBean) Lovejoy and resided most of his life in the Massachusetts area, moving to Manchester in 1966. He was a graduate of Lexington, Ma., High School, attended the University of Maine and graduated from Bentley College. George was a WW II Army veteran and received a bronze star and retired as Major. He was a member of Joseph Webb Lodge AF AM of Boston, Ma., and retired in sales from James E. Hay Co., Lowell, Ma., after 30 years of service. He was the widower of Helen (Condon) Lovejoy who died in 1991. Family members include two sons, George H. Lovejoy of Hooksett and John C. Lovejoy of Salisbury, NH, three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. At the request of Mr. Lovejoy services will be private and entombment will be in Mount Calvary Mausoleum. The Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, is in charge of arrangements.
