George Timothy McGuire

January 9, 1938 — February 4, 2025

Manchester, NH

On Tuesday, February 4th, 2025, George “Tim” Timothy McGuire passed away peacefully at the Mount Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center with his loving wife, Sue-Ellen, by his side. Born on January 9th, 1938, in Manchester, NH, Tim was a lifelong resident of Queen City. He was a brother to eleven siblings. Being close to family was very important to Tim, which is why he was so proud to always call Manchester his home.

Tim leaves behind two children, Timothy McGuire of New York and Christopher McGuire of New Hampshire. He spent 44 wonderful years of his life with his wife, Sue-Ellen. Married for 37 of those years, Sue-Ellen and Tim were inseparable. Their love for one another could be best described as completing each other. They never did anything separately; they were always together. There were many things that Tim was proud of in his life, but the most important thing to him was to always making sure that his wife was smiling and laughing.

Tim served in the United States Army. He was extremely prideful of his service, having been mostly overseas in Germany. He enlisted in the US Army on February 6th, 1956, and was honorably discharged from his service on January 20th, 1959, earning the rank of Specialist. Serving his country was something he held dear to him in his heart.

After Tim’s military service, he worked as a truck driver for Axton Cross Chemical Company for the majority of his life. Tim loved trucking, and he made many friends throughout his career. Everyone loved having him around them, and he was always known for his sense of humor.

Tim was a member of the Elks Club 146 in Manchester, NH, for many years. There he also had a great community around him, and he was thankful for all the friendships being an Elk brought him throughout the years.

When the grass was green and the summer sun was shining, Tim could always be found outdoors. He always had a green thumb and loved his vegetable garden. Tim was always handing out the vegetables he had grown to friends, family, and all his neighbors.

If Tim wasn’t in his garden, he was either playing golf at the Londonderry Country Club or playing outside will all of he and Sue-Ellen’s beloved dogs they shared together. Tim lived a very happy life with his wife and dogs by his side. His family knows that he is now up in Heaven with his Great Pyrenees, Charlie, who was truly a man’s best friend.

Tim was a caring and giving man with an incredible sense of humor. He could always make everyone around him laugh. Though, there were times when he made himself laugh more than anything! Tim’s smile and the happiness he brought to his family and friends will be remembered by many.

Tim is survived by his wife, Sue-Ellen, of Manchester, NH; sons Timothy McGuire of NY and Christopher McGuire of NH; grandchildren Dillon McGuire and Lilith Gagne; many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Megabucks.

Assisting the family with arrangements is Phaneuf Funeral Home, Manchester. There will be a service for Tim on Monday, February 10th, 2025, at 10am in the chapel of the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303. All are welcome to join the family in honoring his life.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Tim’s memory to the ASPCA. Holding his dogs so close to his heart, he would do anything to care for dogs all around. Donations can be made at the ASPCA website, www.aspca.org.
