George J. Prive

George J. Prive, Sr., 93, of Manchester died August 2, 2005 at Maple Leaf Nursing Home following a period of declining health. Mr. Prive was born on December 26, 1911 in New Bedford, MA the son of Alfred and Eva (Belleville) Prive. He was educated in local schools. George worked at several bakeries in the area before owning and operating a well-known bakery in Granite Square, Elizabeth’s Bakery, for ten years. He later worked with metal lathe where he worked with his brothers for twenty years. In his spare time, he enjoyed shopping. Family members include; his daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Prive of Manchester; three grandchildren, Raymond Prive, Michael Prive and David Prive all of Manchester; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Prive was predeceased by his wife, Bertha (LaBonte) Prive in April of 2002. Two sons, Raymond and George Jr., also predeceased him. Calling hours will be Thursday morning, August 4th from 9:00 until 10:30 AM at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 250 Coolidge Avenue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. Raphael Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
