George Michael Spaulding, 61 years old, died June 5, 2024, at Concord Hospital in Concord, NH. He was born on August 8, 1962, in Manchester, NH, the son of Reid Spaulding and Jean Coutinho. He was the husband of Brenda Spaulding. They were married on August 19, 1989, in Hooksett, NH.
George attended Dover High School and New Hampshire College. He met Brenda when he was 25 years old at New Hampshire College (which is now SNHU). He was in the United States Army for four years and then in the New Hampshire Army National Guard for the next 26 years. He retired in 2010 as a CWII. He was the owner and gunsmith of George’s Gun Shop in Northwood, NH for 39 years.
In his spare time, George enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching old war films and documentaries, spending quality time with his family and dog, Harley, running his gunshop, shooting and fixing the guns, and camping.
George was predeceased by his father Reid Spaulding who died in 1999. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Brenda Spaulding; his children, Alexander Spaulding and Jessica Spaulding; his mother, Jean Coutinho; sisters, Debbie Mann and husband Paul Mann, and Dianna Smith and husband Richard Smith Jr.; nieces, Jodi Morin, Danielle Masterson, Nikki Athearn, and Hailey Lancaster; nephews, Richard Smith III, Jeremy Mann, Scott Christie Jr., and James Christie; and many more great nieces and nephews, an uncle, an aunt, and many cousins.
A graveside committal service with military honors will be held at 12:00 pm, Monday, June 17, 2024, at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following the ceremony at the Franklin Armory at 300 South Main Street in Franklin, NH
(no weapons allowed on State property, leave at home please). Family and friends are invited to attend. In honor of George, all are welcome to wear shorts. George loved to wear shorts all year round and we wouldn’t want it any other way. Please help us honor his life and what he meant to us by helping us tell stories or even what he meant to you.
