George Bernard Tack, 89, of Manchester, passed away November 24, 2020 in Manchester at Maple Leaf Health Care Center.
He was born in Manchester on September 22,1931, the son of Bernard and Gertrude (Deroo) Tack. In his youth he tap-danced at the Palace theater and while he served in the United States Navy on the USS Bataan from 1949 to 1953. Upon his return home from the Navy, he started his 59 years of employment at Granite State Manufacturing and wed Marilyn (Hutchins) with whom he celebrated 65 years of wedded bliss.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, whether it was vacationing on Popham Beach or numerous trips to Disney with the grandchildren. He also traveled to Red Sox spring training games in Florida. He loved being a grandpa to his grandchildren and especially to his great granddaughters. George always put his love of family and his faith of god first. George was a lifetime member of Faith Baptist Church, and was instrumental in their move and building at the present location 53 Mammoth Rd.
He was predeceased by his wife Marilyn in 2018 and by a daughter Susan and two sons, Eric and Allan.
Family members include three sons, Glen and wife Carol, Gregg and wife Susan, and David and wife Liz, all of Manchester; six grandchildren, Amy Johnson and husband Steve, David Jr and wife Jessica, Jon, Craig, Adam and fiancée Abby Smith, and George; two great granddaughters Emma Johnson and Rachel Tack; his brother Jon and his wife Phyllis of Florida; his cousin "like a sister" Ann Southmayd of Londonderry; and nephews, nieces and cousins.
A memorial gathering is scheduled for Saturday January 9, 2021 from 10 to 11 followed by an 11 AM memorial service at Faith Baptist Church, 53 Mammoth Rd, Manchester. A graveside committal service with military honors is scheduled for this coming spring at Pine Grove Cemetery.
