Georgia B. Jeffrey, 86, died peacefully at Merrimack County Nursing Home after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease. She was born in North Brookfield, Massachusetts, where her parents, Earl and Barbara Robbins, were working. Shortly, they returned to Chatham, Massachusetts, which she considered her home. She attended local schools, loved the ocean and beaches. As a teenager she worked at the Swinging Basket and her grandmother's Piccadilly Lunch Room. After graduating from Chatham High School, she went to Boston and graduated from the School of Domestic Science. She then found a job at the North Bennett Industrial School as a teacher. Later, working for The Girls' Club of Boston, she became Director of the Bunker Hill Girls' Club. In 1952 she married Clarence Jeffrey, Director of East Boston Social Centers and Camps, where she volunteered in many capacities. They returned to his home state and she became employed at the New Hampshire Hospital teaching adolescent children, a job she loved. After retiring, she became a nutrition teacher for Home Extension. She was very active in genealogical work, writing, and researching many family lines. She became Regent of Mercy White Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was past matron of Mystic and Vesta chapters of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was an active and devoted member of the First Congregational Church of Webster, sang in the choir, was a Deaconess and Chair of the Council. She spent many years at the Church Fair Booth. She was a devoted mother and wife, enjoying her home, sewing, cooking, entertaining, and lots of arts and crafts. She is survived by her husband of 58 1/2 years, Clarence Jeffrey of Webster, a son Lewis and wife Deborah, of North Woodstock, NH. As she wished, there will be a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, at the Corser Hill Cemetery, Webster, NH . In lieu of flowers, perform random acts of kindness in her memory.
