Gerald Basnar, 71, of 531 North Road, Candia, died suddenly November 11, 2003, at the Elliot Hospital. He was born in Fairlee, Vermont on February 27, 1932, the son of the late Clarence and Agnes (Hosford) Basnar and had been a resident of this area for most of his life. Gerald worked as a mechanic for Hooksett Paving for many years. He was an avid outdoorsmen and loved fishing and hunting. Family members inlude his wife of 45 years, Ruth (Francis) Basnar of Candia, three sons; Wayne Basnar, James Basnar, both of Deerfield, NH and Gerald Basnar, Jr., of Tilton, NH, two daughters; Susan Chapman of Temple, NH and Pamela Steers of Weare, NH, 13 grandchildren, one great grandson, two brothers; Walter Basnar of Maine, and Reginald Basnar of Benton,, NH ; many nieces , nephews and cousins. SERVICES: Calling Hours are at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium , 243 Hanover Street., Thursday from 2- 4 and 7 -9 p.m.. The service will be in the funeral home chapel on Friday at 10:00 a.m., Burial will follow in Holbrook Cemetery in Candia, NH.
