Mr. Gerald OP Hamel, 71, of Hampton and Florida, died August 4, 2007 at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester following a short illness. He was born on September 4, 1935 in Manchester, NH the son of Gerard and Mary (Murray) Hamel. He was raised and educated in Manchester. He was a lifelong resident of the area. Mr. Hamel worked at Kaleidoscope in Manchester before retiring a few years ago. He enjoyed photography, going to yard sales and especially spending time with his beloved family. He was a member of the Elks. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Geraldine (Connor) Hamel of Hampton and Florida; 3 daughters, Jacqueline Hecker of Bedford, Suzanne Hamel of Manchester and Theresa Folsom of Laconia; son, Gerard Hamel of Auburn; step son, Gary Rourke; step daughter, Gayle Lepore of Liverpool, NY; 3 sisters, Corinne Reimer of Dunedin, FL, Dolly Oliver of Stafford Springs, CT and Elaine Hewey of Enfield, CT; 5 grandchildren, Michael Brassard of Manchester, Jennifer Brassard of Marlboro, MA, Scott Kelley of Northfield and Curtis and Michael Lepore both of Liverpool, NY; 2 great grandchildren, Parker Brassard and Eban Brassard and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife Theresa (Paul) Hamel and by his brother, Edward Hamel. Calling Hours are on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9PM on at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St, corner of Union St, Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at Blassed Sacrament Church, Manchester. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
