Gerald A. Hemond, 89, of Manchester, NH died on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Arbors of Bedford, in Bedford, NH.
Mr. Hemond was born on January 7, 1933, in Manchester, NH, the son of the late Albert and Antoinette (Provencher) Hemond. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester, NH.
He was a proud veteran and served in the United States Army and then in the Army National Guard with his son Paul.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Hemond was employed as a sales representative for many years and retired with Frito-Lays, Inc. after 21 years. In his earlier years, he worked at Lariviere Furniture store which later became Hemond and Son Furniture. In his later years he was a dedicated volunteer driver for the DAV at the VA Medical Center.
Gerry enjoyed golfing, hunting, snowmobiling, boating, skiing, and spending time with the family playing cards. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 5260, Catholic War Veterans, Manager at the CWV baseball league at St Theresa’s parish, Precious Blood Monastery and participated in many Golf Charity Tournaments.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 66 years, Doris J. (Tardif) Hemond, of Manchester, NH;, His four children, Paul Hemond and wife Joyce (Leslie) of Manchester, NH, three daughters, Diane Mitchell and husband Gerry of South Carolina; Elaine Niemiec and her husband John of Manchester, NH, and Gloria Cybulski and husband Dale of New Boston, NH, six grandchildren, Courtney Glazier, Jason Niemiec, Genesis Sullivan, Elijah Niemiec, Jacob Hemond, Josiah Hemond and seven great grandchildren, Corey, Madison, Camden, Lillian, Mason, Sawyer, Reese, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Lionel Hemond and two sisters, Lorraine Gosselin and Lillian Proulx.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 16 from 4 – 7 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, in Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, 10 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 172 Belmont Street in Manchester. Committal prayers will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Manchester.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452, in memory of Gerald Hemond.
