Gerry LaPan, 61, passed away on June 6, 2014 at his home in Manchester with his loving wife and daughters by his side.
Gerry grew up in Burlington, VT and graduated from Vermont Technical College in 1972. After college he began working for New England Telephone and AT&T where he worked for over 15 years. He continued on with Lucent Technologies after the acquisition of AT&T, eventually becoming a Sr. Product Manager, and reached 30 years with the combined companies.
Gerry married Ginny Roy in 1971 in Winooski, VT. They were happily married for 43 years, living in Manchester for the last 35 years where they raised their two daughters. He enjoyed playing the guitar, taking rides in his convertible sports car with his wife and spending time with his family especially his beloved grandchildren. After being a diabetic for over 50 years, Gerry never lost his will and drive to survive the toughest of complications. His strength and determination will continue to serve as inspiration to all those lives he touched.
Gerry is survived by his spouse Ginny of Manchester, NH and his daughters Andrea and her husband Matt Smith of Bedford, NH and Melissa and her husband Chris Pekalsky of Raymond, NH. He is also survived by his grandchildren Anna Smith, Caleb and Addison Pekalsky.
The family will begin greeting friends and relatives at 10:00AM, June 13, 2014 at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH 03104. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 in the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Northern New England Branch, 175 Ammon Drive, Suite 201, Manchester NH 03103.
