Geraldine "Gerrie" S. Hunkins

Geraldine “Gerrie” S. Hunkins, 81, of Hooksett NH, passed away unexpectedly on September 28, 2022. She was born on August 28, 1941, in Jacksonville, NC to the late Lonnie & Etta (Conaway) Sawyer and would go on to marry her husband and best friend, Robert “Bob” Hunkins, with whom she shared over 41 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Jacksonville, NC, Gerrie stayed true to her southern roots for her entire life, maintaining a southern accent well into her final years. She grew up one of 13 children and later had 4 children herself who were the loves of her life. Gerrie enjoyed a large and loving family with countless grandchildren and great grandchildren and was always happiest when surrounded by family.

Those who knew Gerrie will remember a fiery, fun loving and strong-willed woman who loved having fun with her friends and family. In her free time, she and Bob would take frequent trips to the casino, whether in Las Vegas, Atlantic City or locally. She also loved playing cards with her friends and the occasional shopping spree. Above all else, Gerrie loved her family immensely, and will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.

Geraldine has joined her husband Bob Hunkins in heaven. She is survived by her daughters Mary & Donna Wright; sons Boyd & Brant Wright; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Calling Hours for Gerrie will be held on Monday, October 3^rd from 5 – 7 PM, with a service beginning at 6 PM, at Phaneuf Funeral Homes, 243 Hanover St. Manchester, NH. A burial will take place on Tuesday, October 4^th at 2 PM at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Manchester, NH.
