GERALDINE SIMONE

LITTLETON, NH -- Geraldine Alexandria Simone, 92, of Littleton, formally of Haverhill, MA, passed away on September 14, 2008, at Cottage Hospital with her daughters, Laurie and Pearl by her side.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on September 10, 1916, and raised in the Boston area. Gerri summered in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, with her life-long friend, Helen McFadden, and it was there she met her future husband, Peter J. Simone. Together they raised three daughters and went on to establish a business, Walnut Square Variety in Haverhill, MA, which they operated for 18 years. Upon retirement they moved to an area they both loved - the North Country.

Gerri took an active role at Pare's Sunshine Market in Littleton, NH, which was owned by her daughter, Laurie and son-in-law, Jack Pare.

Gerri possessed a unique view of life, deriving pleasure in the simplest things it had to offer, with a wonderment and great appreciation of nature. She found joy in the beauty and majesty of the North Country. She marveled at all she had witnessed over the 92 years, from the invention of the television to a woman running for president. She had a great interest in politics and considered herself blessed to have led a fulfilled and joyful life.

Surviving family members include her daughters, Thea Ryder and husband, Joseph of Absecon, NJ, Pearl Conte and Howard Wolpert of Salisbury Beach, Maine, and Laurie Pare and husband, Jack of Bethlehem, NH; granddaughters, Michelle Parsons: great-grandsons Brandon and Devin; Wendy Sotera and finance Frank Nosek of Fort Lauderdale, FL; grandsons, Alan Conte of Haverhill, ME, and Robert Cookinharn, Jr. and wife, Lori of Turnersville, NJ. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter, on February 8, 1986.

SERVICES -- As was Geraldine's wish, private family remembrance will be observed. A special thanks to all who cared for her and befriended her. She appreciated you all.
