Manchester â Gerard D. Desruisseaux, 84, of Manchester, NH, died July 7, 2014 at the Elliot Hospital.
He was born on August 28, 1929 in Manchester the son of the late Dollard and Bertha (Hebert) Desruisseaux. Gerard was raised and educated in Manchester.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Desruisseaux worked in the Parks and Recreation Department for the City of Manchester for 25 years before retiring. He had also worked at Daven and McGraw-Edison in Manchester.
He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans and the League of Sacred Heart.
Gerard was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed the Red Sox. He also loved spending time with his family and truly loved time with his grandchildren.
Surviving family members include his wife, Irene V. Desruisseaux of Manchester, 2 sons, Donald Desruisseaux and his wife Donna of New Boston and Gary Desruisseaux and his wife Carlene of Auburn, 3 grandchildren, James Desruisseaux and his wife Nicole, Kristin McMahon and her husband John Matthew and Alyssa Desruisseaux; 2 great grandchildren, Dylan and Cameron Desruisseaux, sister, Cecile Dupuis of Bedford and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his 3 brothers, Roger, Robert and Maurice Desruisseaux.
Calling Hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 250 Coolidge Ave, Manchester on Thursday from 4 to 8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Ste. Marie Church, Norte Dame Ave, Manchester. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Manchester.
