Gerard P. Martineau

Gerard “Gerry” P. Martineau, 92, of Manchester, NH passed away peacefully on October 14, 2021. Born on December 5th, 1928 to the late Philibert & Albertine (Cusson) Martineau, Gerard would go on to marry his wife and best friend Cecile Lemier, with whom he would share 65 years of marriage.

Gerard was born and raised in Manchester, NH, and would continue to live there for the rest of his life until he and his wife Cecile decided to travel the U.S. in their motorhome. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School and would later be drafted into the Army where he served as an artillery specialist and telephone line engineer in Germany. Gerard was forever proud of his service to his country, and was never shy about his patriotism.

Throughout his life, Gerard always believed in hard work. After his service he worked at Coke, Champagne’s and later the Grand Union of Manchester, and finally as a maintenance worker at DEKA which he enjoyed greatly.

Those who knew Gerard will remember a loyal and loving husband, father and friend who believed in honest work, self sufficiency and an appreciation for what you have. His free time was mostly devoted to the people that he loved, as he was always at his best when surrounded by close friends and family.

Gerard has joined his brother Donald Martineau in heaven. He is survived by his wife Cecile Martineau; son Roger Martineau and his daughter-in-law Carol; grandchildren Zachary, his wife Gina and their son Colten James & Heather; sister-in-law Margaret Martineau; and his several nieces and nephews.

Gerard will be laid to rest on Friday, October 22nd at 10:00 AM at the NH State Veteran’s Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
