Gertrude R. Luce

Gertrude R. Luce, 80, of Andover died Friday, March 13, 2020 following a period of declining health.

Gertrude was born in East Braintree, MA July 11, 1939, the fourth of ten children born to George Foley and Edith (Lunt) Shepard. She enjoyed a rewarding 26-year career as an administrative assistant with Converse. Gertrude married William James Luce Sr. in 1959 and the couple shared 52 happy years together until his death in 2011.

Gertrude possessed a deep and abiding love of family and cherished every moment spent with loved ones. She enjoyed many family camping trips in her earlier years and, as time went on, she preferred to spend her days reading, assembling jigsaw puzzles, playing card games, and solving an endless supply of puzzles on her iPad. A peanut butter and jelly sandwich accompanied by a Diet Coke was always sure to bring a smile to Gertrude's face. Her strong faith, gentle demeanor, and steadfast commitment to those close to her will be missed by all whose lives she touched.

Gertrude is survived by her children, Bill Luce Jr. and his wife Virginia of Andover, NH, Linda Stone and her husband Larry of Loudon, Kevin Luce and his wife Michele of Manchester, and Bob Luce and his wife Brenda of Nashua; grandchildren Dean, Gerry, Danny, Larry IV, Michael, Robert Jr., and Stephanie; one great-grandchild, Abigail; siblings Edith, Dan, Jim, Janet and Joan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four brothers, George, Paul, John, and Norman.

Services at Mt Calvary Cemetery will be private and attended by immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the resident activities fund of Merrimack County Nursing Home c/o The Edna McKenna Trust Fund, ATTN: Mary Heath 325 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH, 03303.
