Gilbert ‘Gil’ Welch, 73, of Boscawen, died on May 16, 2011 at home surrounded by his family after a long illness.
He was born April 16, 1938 in Franklin, son of the late Harold and Doris (Odette)Welch. He attended Franklin schools. Gil was employed for several local companies over the years.
Gil was passionate about baseball. He coached and managed the Steenbeke and Sons Little League team for over 15 years. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots and the Boston Bruins.
He also enjoyed woodworking. He is remembered for his deep love of family and he showed it everyday.
Besides his wife of 50 years, Evalyn ‘Eve’ (French) Welch, he is survived by 2 daughters: Deborah Marcotte and her husband Bill of Boscawen, Jodi Dube and her husband Tom of Boscawen, 3 grandchildren: Benjamin Benoit of Winnisquam, Sierra Dube and Kyle Dube both of Boscawen; 1 sister: Kathy Tinker of Northfield; 1 brother: Ronald Welch and his wife Ellen of Colorado.
Gil was predeceased by his son Jamie Welch.
