Gilles C. LaPorte, 67, of Deering passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at home after a brief illness.
He was born in Magog, Canada on February 28, 1952 as the son of the late Andre LaPorte and Lucille (Bergeron) Sutherlein.
Gill moved to the United States with his family at a young age and began a lifelong career as a self-employed carpenter and builder as a teenager. He enjoyed passing along many of these skills to his two sons, Shane and Tom, with Tom working alongside Gill for much of the last three decades.
In addition to his gifts as a carpenter, Gill enjoyed working on cars, and playing guitar and drums with his friends. He was also involved with Tae Kwon Do as a student and instructor for much of his life, earning the rank of a 6th degree black belt.
Most of all, Gill enjoyed staying busy and helping his friends, family and loved ones whenever he could, without hesitation.
He is survived by his three children, Shane LaPorte and his wife, Megan of Needham, MA, Thomas LaPorte and his wife, Laurie of Hillsboro, NH and their mother, Barbara LaPorte of Manchester and a daughter, Cassandra Callahan of Farmington, NH; eight grandchildren, Vivienne, Natalie, Sylvie, Adam, Samuel, James, Montana and Liam; five siblings, Gisele Huppe of Manchester, NH, Raymond LaPorte and his wife, Danielle of Enosburg Falls, VT, Monique T'alecoeur of Montana, Francine Perry of Allenstown, NH and Guy LaPorte and his wife, Denise of Goffstown, NH. Also, many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours for Gill will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2019 in the Phaneuf Funeral Home and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue in Manchester from 4-7 pm. Relatives and Friends are welcomed to attend.
