Gilles Morin

Gilles Morin, 85, of 100 Alliance Way, Manchester, died November 20, 2007 at Harborside Healthcare Center. He was born in Montreal, PQ Canada on August 12, 1922, the son of Philease and Rose-Aimee (Couture) Morin and had been a Manchester resident for over 55 years. He had worked for Habitant Soup Company for over 40 years and had been Vice President and General Manager of the company for many years. He was an avid bridge player and was a member of the American Contract Bridge Association. He volunteered for the Elliot Hospital and was a parishioner of St. Joseph Cathedral. He loved hockey and especially enjoyed watching the Montreal Canadians. He was the widower of Gloria (Jolicoeur) Morin who died in 2005. In His Life: Family members include two sons, Robert Morin of Salem, MA and Paul Morin of Weare; two granddaughters, Jessica Morin and Erica Morin, both of Manchester; a brother, Msgr. Alfred Morin of Columbia; two sisters, Therese Morin-Leger and Laurette Delorme, both of Montreal, Canada; and nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Friday evening from 5 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10:00 in the Chapel of St. Joseph Cathedral. Encryptment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
