Giusseppi
Difranco
March 20, 1950 – May 14, 2026
Giusseppi "Joe" Difranco, born on March 20, 1950, in Sicily, Italy, passed away on May 14, 2026, in Manchester, New Hampshire. Joe lived a life marked by dedication, strength, and deep love for his family and faith.
Joe’s early years were spent in Augusta, Sicily, where he was born and lived until the age of fourteen. Seeking new opportunities, he immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island, settling first in Somerville, Massachusetts. He later chose to move to New Hampshire with his wife, Jeanne, believing it was a better place to raise their children. Joe remained proud of his Italian roots throughout his life.
A veteran who served in the Army during the Vietnam War, Joe was a helicopter gunner who survived a helicopter crash after being declared MIA and later found his way back to safe territory and was reunited with family. Joe was also a member of the Massachusetts National Guard. He always took great pride in his service to his country. Back home, Joe spent over 25 years as a truck driver for New England Produce. He was a proud member of Teamsters Local 25. He enjoyed his work and built many friendships over the years. He worked hard to provide for his family and appreciated the free produce that allowed him to share fresh food with those he loved.
Known for his loyalty and love of family, Joe was a devout Catholic who prayed nightly, drawing comfort and guidance from his faith. His happiest moments were spent fishing, gardening at home, feeding and watching birds, and playing pool with his son Mark and friends. Being surrounded by those he cared about brought him true joy.
Joe is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jeanne (Lombard) DiFranco; his daughter Nicole Touchette and her husband Jason; his son Mark DiFranco; his brothers Sebastiano DiFranco and his wife Deborah, Aldo DiFranco, and Roberto DiFranco; his sister Maria Piazza; and his cherished grandchildren Charlotte and Lydia. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He is preceded in death by both parents, brothers Dominico and Salvatore DiFranco, and brother-in-law Joe Piazza, who was his lifelong friend since their childhood in Sicily.
Joe battled cancer and fought with great courage and determination. He will be remembered for his strength, devotion to family, and the respect he showed everyone around him.
Joe will be laid to rest at the NH State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
