Gladys Arlene Pigeon

Gladys Arlene (McWhirter) Pigeon, age 89, of Concord, NH died on November 14, 2010 at the Havenwood Heritage Heights. She was the wife of the late Leo N. Pigeon.

She was born on December 17, 1920 in Newton, MA, the daughter of the late Alfred L. and Margaret (Bill) McWhirter. Gladys lived in Newton for many years before moving to New Hampshire in 1996. She was a graduate of Watertown High School in Watertown, MA and Fisher College in Boston, MA. She worked as an administrative assistant in Newton High School for many years and prior to that was a technical typist at several scientific companies in the Boston area.

She enjoyed traveling and one of her great joys was visiting her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter: Janice A. Power and her husband Donald of Watertown, MA; a daughter: Ruth P. McCandless and her husband Jeffrey of Salisbury, NH; a son: Edward A. Pigeon of Worcester, MA; granddaughter: Wendy Vaughn; grandson: Robert Power; three step grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

She was the mother of the late Nancy O. Pigeon.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 11:00am in the Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut Street, Newton Centre, MA.
