Gordon Edward Kent, 87, of Gilford, NH, passed away on January 31, 2026. Born in Williamstown, MA on August 13, 1938, he was a son of the late Russell and Ruth (Berry) Kent and had been married to Gail (Kenney) Wood since 2008.

Gordon was raised in Williamstown, Massachusetts, and graduated from Drury High School in 1956. He dedicated his entire professional career to Sprague Electric, remaining with the company through several relocations and holding a variety of positions before retiring as Quality Control Manager.

An avid golfer and bowler, Gordon was a longtime member of numerous bowling leagues. He enjoyed the companionship of his pet dogs throughout the years. He was also a lifelong boater who treasured time spent on the water, especially boating on Squam Lake with his daughters, Justine and Jackie, during their younger years, as well as on Lake Winnipesaukee and later near his retirement home in Florida with his wife, Gail. After spending many enjoyable retirement years in Florida, Gordon returned to New Hampshire to be closer to family toward the end of his life.

Gordon is survived by his daughters, Justine Johnson and Jacqueline Jewell and her husband Edward, all of Elkins, NH; his wife, Gail Wood, of Gilford, NH, as well as her children, Karin Wood Cloutier and her husband Jeff and Jeff Wood and his wife Heidi; his grandchildren, Jessica Jewell of San Francisco, CA, Dayna Morrow and her husband Daylen of Carthage, NC, Matthew Johnson of Braintree, MA, and Lauren Nguyen and her husband Michael of Bristol, NH; six great-grandchildren; several extended family members and friends; and his beloved dog, Toby. In addition to his parents, Gordon was predeceased by the mother of his children, Denise Kent, and his sister, Barbara Messner.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, February 8th from 1PM – 3PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 172 King Street, Boscawen, NH. Family and friends are invited to attend.
