Grace E. Karl, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died in Manchester, NH on March 13, 2006. She was 84. Mrs. Karl was born March 21, 1921 in Stamford, CT, the daughter of the late Winfield and Grayce Paine Scott. She resided in Stamford for 82 years until she and her husband moved to Hillcrest Terrace in Manchester, NH to be closer to their children. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Frederick E. Karl, who died on January 9, 2006. She is survived by a daughter, Karen, and her husband, Ronald Adams of Ossipee, a son, Paul and his wife, Jacqueline of Pelham, and five grandchildren, Scott, Elizabeth, Brian, Christopher, and Jeffrey. She was also predeceased by a brother, Robert Scott. Mrs. Karl was a graduate of Stamford (CT) High School, class of 1939 and was employed for several years by the Southern New England Telephone Company. For many years, she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Stamford, CT, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. In more recent years, she was an active member of Union Memorial Church in Stamford, where she also sang in the choir. After moving to New Hampshire, she became a member of the First Congregational Church in Manchester. In Stamford, Mrs. Karl was actively involved with the Cub Scouts, Brownies, and Girl Scouts. She also worked as a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels and was honored for 6, 900 hours of volunteer service at the Stamford Hospital. Calling hours will be Friday, March 17 beginning at 8:15 AM at the First Congregational Church, Union Street, with a funeral service following at 9:00 AM. Following the service, Mrs. Karl will be interred at 11:00 AM at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, where her husband was laid to rest on January 13. A memorial service will be held at the Union Memorial Church in Stamford, CT at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 26.
