Harmina "Meanie" Shea, 87, died peacefully with her family by her side on December 26, 2012 at Courville, Manchester after a period of declining health.
Meanie was born in Malden, MA June 17, 1925, the daughter of Gerrit, Sr. and Teuntje (Merijon) deGroot. Raised in Derry, she attended Derry schools and was an alumnus of Pinkerton Academy. In 1957, she moved to Westville, NH to raise her family. She worked for many years as a cashier at Westville Market. In late 1970's she moved full time to Gilford, NH and worked at K-Mart of Laconia. Upon retirement, she returned to her home town of Derry and lived 17 years at Nutfield Heights.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, dancing and her family. Being a daughter, mother, and "Nana" were her greatest pleasures in life. Always offering a lending hand with all the love and support she had.
Left behind are her son, Gerrit (Jerry) Porter and wife Norma Porter, Winter Springs, FL; daughter, Tina Carter and husband Stuart Carter, Londonderry, NH; grandsons, Neil Porter and wife Crystal, Oviedo, FL; Travis Carter and wife Mani, Nashua, NH; and Andrew Carter, Londonderry, NH; granddaughter, Hilary Brady and husband Eric, Casselberry, FL; and great granddaughters, Rachel Porter, Brooke Carter, and Nia Carter.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the dedicated caregivers at Courville at Manchester and Elliot Hospital GPU.
Arrangements for cremation are being handled by Phaneuf Funeral Home, Manchester, NH. There will be no services and burial will be private in the Spring. Memorial donations may be made in Harmina's name to: Alzheimer's Association, 5 Bedford Farms Drive, Suite 201, Bedford, NH 03110.
