Harold "Mitch" Mitchell of W. Brattleboro, VT passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 28, 2016. He was born in St. Albans, VT on July 26, 1945; the son of the late Denver and Freida (McClaren) Mitchell.

Mitch was a lifelong Brattleboro resident. He was educated in the Brattleboro school system, graduating from Brattleboro High School, Class of 1965. He worked as the cemetery sexton at Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery and as a funeral assistant at Ker-Westerlund Funeral Home for many years. Mitch was well known in the Brattleboro community. He loved to work and stay busy and was always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed people and loved to socialize with everyone he came in contact with. Mitch will forever be missed by those who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Andrea Mitchell of W. Brattleboro; a daughter, Michele Wood and her husband Steve also of W. Brattleboro; a son, Michael Mitchell of Northfield, MA; a brother, Leonard Mitchell and his wife Darlene of W. Brattleboro; two granddaughters, Sarah Blais and Haley Mitchell-Wood; a step grandson, A.J. Blais; as well his dog and companion Minnie, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at KER-WESTERLUND FUNERAL HOME, 57 High St., Brattleboro. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Locust Ridge Cemetery in Brattleboro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mitch's name to the West River Valley Vet Services, 720 VT-30, Newfane, VT 05345 or Rescue, Inc., 541 Canal St, Brattleboro, VT 05301.
