Harold D. Ranney, 69, of Westminster West passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013 at Pine Heights Nursing Home in Brattleboro, VT. He was born in Rockingham, VT, the son of the late George and Isabelle (Nuttal) Ranney.

Harold spent all of his life in the Dummerston, Putney and Westminster West area. He was educated in the Dummerston school system, graduating from Brattleboro High School, class of 1962. He then went on to attend Vermont Tech and Windham College. Harold is the 6th generation of the Ranney Family to own and operate the Ranney Homestead Farm in Westminster West. He was a deacon at Westminster Congregational Church and a member of the American Farm Bureau. Harold enjoyed coaching baseball, was an avid sports fan, had a passion for raising his Jersey cattle, enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with his grandsons.

He is predeceased by a son Gary Ranney in 1998.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (Mudgett) Ranney of Westminster West; a son Philip Ranney and his companion Meghan McBean of Westminster West; two brothers, Charles H. Ranney of Dummerston and Robert A. Ranney and his wife Julia of TN; two grandsons, Garrett and Sawyer Ranney; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There are no calling hours. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 10 AM at Congregational Church of Westminster West, 44 Church St., Putney, VT 05346. Burial will follow at Westminster West Cemetery behind the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harold's name to Pine Heights Activities Department, 187 Oak Grove Ave., Brattleboro, VT 05301.
