LONGTIME COACH WILLIAMS DIES Harold F. Hal Williams, 63, of 11 Sonny Avenue, Goffstown, NH died March 29, 2004, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital, Lebanon, NH. He was born in Manchester, NH on September 13, 1940, the son of the late Harold and Ida (Towne) Williams and had been a lifelong resident of this area. Hal attended Central High School and received his plumber license. He was a self employed plumber for 40 years. Hal was a terrific father and grandfather. Hal was a longtime Manchester and Bedford youth baseball coach who guided the Manchester Babe Ruth Tom Woodlock All-Stars to the finals of the 1990 Babe Ruth World Series. He was described by many as a colorful, opinionated individual and had a passion for the game and kids. He coached American Legiona baseball, serving as head coach of Jutras Post, Bedford and Manchester Post 79. He also coached Little League and Manchester Pony League. Hal brought out the best out in every player he coached, no matter what kind of talent the kid had. We have lost a mentor and a father figure. Family members include three sons; Shawn Williams of Goffstown, Hal Williams of Tampa, Florida and Jeffrey Williams of Manchester, a daughter; Kelly Robidoux of Manchester, eight grandchildren, two brothers; Richard Williams of Hooksett and Frederick Williams of Manchester, three sisters; Evelyn Dubois of Florida, Joyce Morrel and Bonnie Williams, both of Manchester, several nieces, nephews and cousins, his companion of 13 years, Carol L. Vare of Goffstown. SERVICES: Relatives and friends are welcomed to calling hours at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Thursday evening from 7 to 9 OClock.
