Harvey J. Delangie Jr., 83, of Manchester died peacefully at home on Friday, February 11th surrounded by his loving family.
Harvey was born May 22, 1927, the son of Joseph and Marie (Proulx) Delangie. He was raised in Tilton and moved to Manchester shortly before enlisting in the Army in 1945, proudly serving his country during WWII.
Following his time in the service, Harvey was employed as a maintenance engineer with Northeastern Engineering and then at the Manchester Youth Detention Center. He retired from YDC in 1984 (or is it 1983? â or would you prefer this to say at 57 years old?...or nothing at all?)
Harvey was an avid sports fan who enjoyed coaching Sunday Softball League. He was a man with many interests and was always anxious to try his hand at new and different things. He was a winemaker and crafter of wooden toys; he greatly enjoyed time with his family, and gardened for many years.
IN HIS LIFE: Harvey is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nadia (Grigolato) Delangie, whom he married April 11, 1953; 3 sons, John Delangie Sr. and his wife Karen of Manchester, Brian Delangie and his wife Joanne of Litchfield, and Jeff Delangie Sr. and his wife Lisa of Manchester; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and one niece. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Wright.
