FRANCONIA, NH Hazel J. OKeefe, age 99, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2005, at the Lafayette Center in Franconia, just six days prior to her 100th birthday.
Hazel was born a daughter to Frank E. and Celia E. (Clark) Jesseman on June 29, 1905 in Lisbon, NH. She graduated from Littleton High School and Plymouth Normal School. She taught 2 years in Bethlehem in a one-room schoolhouse, grades 1-6. .
Hazel lived in Littleton most of her life and was a seamstress, housewife, and mother. She was well known in the area for her dressmaking. She enjoyed knitting which she continued up until the day of her fall in May 2005, which put her into the hospital and was then transferred to the Lafayette Center.
Surviving family members include two daughters, Jacquelin R. Blandin of Lee, NH and Nadine Boyle of Littleton, NH; two stepsons, Donald F. OKeefe of Bethlehem, NH and John L. OKeefe of Shady Cove, Oregon; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren. Her husband of 50 years, Francis Pat OKeefe predeceased her in 1994; and a son, Walter Chub Blandin predeceased her in 2004, as well as two grandchildren in previous years.
SERVICES A private graveside service will be held in the Wheeler Hill Cemetery with Rev. Stephen E. Bascom officiating.
