Helen J. "Jan" (Champagne) Demers, 83, of Amherst, died June 7, 2008 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Manchester on September 20, 1924, the daughter of Albert F. and Jane (Beaudin) Champagne and had been a Manchester resident for many years before moving to Amherst. She graduated from West High School Class of 1942. She was a loving mother and homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. Her family and her faith were her greatest joy. In Her Life: She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Marcel M. Demers; two sons, David Demers and his wife Diane of Auburn and James Demers and his wife Deborah of Amherst; a daughter, Debra Demers of Amherst with whom she resided; four grandchildren, Keith and his wife Kelly, Jason, Jeanine and Michael; four great grandchildren; Ashton, Noah, Alexis and Alyssa; a sister, Laurette Bourzikas; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 9:30 AM in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
