Helen E. Derry, 85, of Townshend, VT passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014 at Valley Care Senior housing in Townshend, VT. She was born in Brattleboro, VT on May 20, 1928, the daughter of the late Elmer and Esther (Johnson) Thomas.
Helen was a lifelong area resident and was educated in the local school system. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and loved spending time with her family.
She is predeceased by her husband, Leslie E. Derry in 2003 and four siblings, Ralph Perkins, Richard Perkins, Phyllis E. Haskell and Elizabeth Haskins.
She is survived by three daughters, Carol J. Isham and her husband Stan of Plattsmouth, NE, Barbara A. Lewis and her husband Tom of Alexandria, VA, and Kathleen M. Marden and her husband Bob of Evington, VA; a son, Leslie "Skip" E. Derry, Jr. and his wife Kristen of Townshend, VT; two brothers, Philip R. Perkins and his wife Pat of Brattleboro and Roger L. Perkins and his wife Freida also of Brattleboro; two sisters, Isabel E. Madore of Dummerston, VT, and Nancy G. Haskins of Keene, NH; fourteen grandchildren, Caleb, Joshua, Jason, Laura, Caitlyn, Jonathan, Benjamin, Deborah, Greg, Peter, Jennifer, Kristen, Adrienne and Lauryn; seventeen great grandchildren, Samantha, Tony, Brianna, Mackenzie, Amelia, Allison, Evan, William, Leslie, Mitchell, Hannah, Samantha, Nathan, Heather, Rebecca, Sarah and Thomas; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services and Burial will take place in the spring. The KER-WESTERLUND FUNERAL HOME, 57 High St., Brattleboro has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's name to Bayada Home Healthcare, 23 Marlboro Rd., Suite 101, Brattleboro, VT 05301 or Valley Care, 457 Grafton Rd., Townshend, VT 05353.
