Helen Baker Dexter

On Sunday, September 13, 2020, Helen Baker Dexter, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 97.

Helen was born at Morrison Hospital on July 30, 1923 in Whitefield, NH to Syndey Anson Baker and Viola Jeanette Sisco Baker. She was the oldest of 13 children.

Helen grew up in Whitefield. She attended Whitefield HS and was captain of her basketball team. She graduated in 1941. Helen worked as a waitress after high school.

She married Carl Roscoe Dexter on November 23, 1945. They raised two sons, Brian and Mark.

She was a homemaker while her children were small, then took a job at Manchester Knitted Fashions. She also did alterations for Frank's Clothing Store for many years.

Helen loved baking, sewing, needle work, crocheting and knitting. One of her special passions was making hooked rugs. She won first prize in a hooked rug competition at the Lancaster Fair. Far above all her loves, passions and hobbies, the most important and cherished aspect of her life was her deep faith is Jesus Christ. Helen passed on a strong legacy of faith in God to her family.

After her husband passed, Helen moved to Connecticut to be closer to family, where she lived out her days.

Helen is survived by her brother Mervin Baker and two sisters Sylvia Corbett and Judi Demers. She is also survived by her sons Brian and Mark, Mark's wife Sharon, grandchildren Brianna, Charisma, Markaya, Austin, Heather, Heidi and Jaime and many more.

Weather permitting, a calling hour will be held on the grounds of the Whitefield Christian Church from 11am to 12 pm. Funeral immediately following. Burial service at Elmwood Cemetery in Franconia at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you take this time to hug your loved ones, cherish them and hold them closer than you ever have. Flowers die so quickly, but love is eternal.
