Manchester

Helen Mary Hujar, 89, passed away on November 8, 2022 at the Catholic Medical Center, in Manchester, NH, after a period of declining health.

She was born on June 23, 1933, in Concord, NH, the daughter of Mary and Joseph Hujar.  Helen lived most of her life in the Manchester area.  She attended local schools and graduated from Manchester Central High School.

For many years, Helen worked as a contract auditor for Sanders Associates in Nashua, NH, retiring in 1992.  In her younger years, she loved traveling to many different countries, and was able to experience things such as riding an elephant in Thailand and seeing a bullfight in Spain.

Helen was a talented artist and liked to draw and paint, giving away many of her art pieces to family and friends.  She also enjoyed skiing in the winter, playing golf in the summer, and working on jigsaw puzzles.

After retirement, Helen did volunteer work for many organizations.  Her favorite was the American Cancer Society, as she had been diagnosed with cancer in her early 30s, and again in her 40s.  She also enjoyed teaching adults to read.

Helen loved her family and relished her role as "Auntie".  She is survived by her niece, Debra Brickett, and husband, Benjamin of Eliot, Maine, and her nephew David Hujar and his wife, Renee of Auburn, NH, 3 great nephews, and a great niece, and their children.  She was predeceased by her parents, brother Philip Hujar, and sister-in-law Vera Hujar.
