Mr. Herbert B. "Herb" Osborn, 91, formerly of Salem, MA died May 18, 2008 at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester with his family by his side. He was born on September 26, 1916 the son of the late Herbert P. and Mary (Baldwin) Osborne and step mother Amy Webber. He was raised and educated in Salem. Herb had lived in Salem for most of his life, moving to Manchester in March. Herb served in the US Army during World War II. He worked as an electrician and then as a surveyor for Pressey-Lanphear Land Surveyors. Herb enjoyed fishing, boating on the ocean and skiing. He was especially passionate about hiking in Tuckerman's Ravine and the White Mountains. Herb also loved to travel, summering in central Maine and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Elizabeth (Cusack) McGeown of Manchester, 6 step children, 24, step grandchildren, and 34 step great grandchildren. His gathering will be held on Thursday from 12:00 to 12:45PM at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St, Manchester followed be his Funeral Service in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH. Donations can be made in Herb's name to the DAV, 399 Silver St, Manchester, NH 03103.
