Horace Crawford Burrington, 97, passed away June 26th 2020 at the John Bertram House in Salem, Massachusetts where had lived for the previous four years. Horace was born September 1st 1922 a son to John Cecil and Mary Ellen (Woodman) Burrington at the Leavitt house in Charlemont Massachusetts.

Horace attended school in Charlemont and graduated from the high school in 1940. He earned a BS in Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He was a WWII veteran who served in the US Signal Corps in China.

Horace had a long teaching career beginning with his practice teaching in Littleton High School. Littleton is where he met and married his beloved wife Shirley Velander in 1947. He taught science health and math at the high school and college level in New York state until 1977. During this time he attended a number of summer continuing education courses at colleges such as Clarkson, U of Oregon and Tufts which provided the family with the opportunity to see much of the country.

In 1977 he and Shirley retired to Littleton where he enjoyed spending time with his family and working on his computer skills. He helped to introduce computers to the Littleton Area Historical Society. He loved playing Sudoku and Farkle, skills that served him well when he moved to assisted living at the John Bertram House in Salem, Ma.

Horace is survived by his son; John S. Burrington and his grandson; David J. Burrington Jr.

He will be buried next his wife Shirley and son David in Glenwood Cemetery, Littleton.
