Howard Leroy Davis

Howard Leroy Davis, 91, a lifelong resident of Candia passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025 with his daughters by his side. Howard was born on December 28, 1933 in Candia, NH, the son of the late Theodore and Phoebe (Prescott) Davis, he was one of 17 children.

Howard was a lifelong resident of Candia and attended Moore Elementary/High School. Howard joined the Marines in 1953 and attended boot camp in South Carolina. He served in the Korean War and was part of the elite group, awarded the green French Fourragere ropes, these were awarded to the Marine regiments for their heroic actions. He was a member of the VFW, The Deerhead 400. He loved cooking at the VFW, loved sitting on the porch with his brothers and sharing stories. He loved cutting and stacking wood, snowmobiling and driving his golf cart and enjoyed his many birds.

Howard worked for Seward after the service and went on to work for E.D. Swett for 40 years building bridges before retiring to care for his wife of 60 years. 

Howard is survived by his two daughters, Roxanne Albert of Merrimack, NH and Patti Hendrick of Concord, NH. His Brothers, Theodore (Tedo) Davis of Auburn, NH, Charles (John) Davis of Manchester, NH, William (Billy) Davis of Candia, NH, Orrin (Ozzie) Davis of Manchester, NH.

Howard has 8 grandchildren, Dave Waniski of Greenfield, NH, Holly Waniski of Blackshear, GA, Cameron Hendrick of San Diego, CA, Toni Fox of Pineville, LA, Rhonda Danault of Pineville, LA, Erin Koskela of Manchester, NH, Caitlyn Parroff of Northwood, NH, Juliana Albert of Litchfield, NH, 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews he loved so much.

Howard is predeceased by his sisters- Priscilla (Pat) Sherbut, Beverly Campbell, Betty Maxwell, Grace Johnston, Ruth Davis, Mary Patricia Arel, and Barbara Clark. His brothers- Roland (Buddy) Davis, Robert (Teak) Davis, a set of twin siblings and another baby that passed after birth, and his great-granddaughter- Emma Bennett.

Howard will be placed at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen NH, with a service on March 7, 2025, at 12:00PM, officiated by Pastor Steve Baker of Candia, NH. Joan, his wife of 60 years will join him.
