Ida Sansom Smith, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Presidential Oaks, with Hospice care provided by Concord Regional Visiting Nurses, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Manchester, England on December 14, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John and Edith.
Ida honorably served her country as a member of the British Army during World War II and proudly maintained her British Citizenship until her passing. A dedicated wife and mother, Ida enjoyed travel, opera, theater, and found great comfort and companionship in her many dogs, cats, and even a pony.
Ida is survived by her two sons, Robert and wife Brenda of Center Barnstead, and David and former wife Dana of Pittsfield; her granddaughter, Jennifer Molignano and husband Mike of Maynard, MA; her sister, Marjorie of Manchester, England; her niece, Marjorie Burgess Murphy and husband Patrick of New Boston; her great nephew, Benjamin Burgess of Manchester; several nieces, nephews, and extended family in England. In addition to her parents, Ida was predeceased by her spouses, Malcolm Sansom and Howard Smith; her son Peter Sansom, 1973; and her siblings, Raymond, Joan and Norman.
ARRANGEMENTS: Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Ida's memory to the Animal Rescue League of NH, 545 Route 101, Bedford, NH 03110. Assisting the family with arrangements is the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St., Manchester.
