IRENE Y. BORTHWICK Irene Y. Borthwick, 80, of Manchester, NH, died Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Hackett Hill Nursing Home, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Borthwick was born on March 5, 1928, in Suncook, NH, the daughter of the late Ernest and Mirida (Francoeur) Laferte. She was a resident of Manchester for most of her life, but has resided in Litchfield since 1989. Mrs. Borthwick was a former communicant of St. Raphael Church, in Manchester. She enjoyed time with her family and cooking at family barbecues. Mrs. Borthwick enjoyed taking care of children throughout her life. She liked doing word search puzzles and was an avid bird watcher. Members of her family include; 1 son, Robert Borthwick, of Litchfield, NH; a daughter, Linda Hebert, also of Litchfield, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 brother, William "Willy" Laferte, of Suncook, NH; nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial reception will be Thursday, April 3, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, corner of Union Street, in Manchester. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM, in the funeral home chapel. Committal prayers and burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, in Manchester. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Lung Association of New Hampshire, 9 Cedarwood Drive, Bedford, NH 03110, in memory of Mrs. Borthwick.
