Irene A. Doyon passed away on July 11, 2000, at Bel Air Nursing Home after a long illness. She was born in St. George de Beauce, Canada on October 10, 1909, and was the daughter of Ludger and Albertine (Rodrique) Caron. While in Canada she was employed as a hotel assistant and chef for eight years. She and her husband moved to Manchester in 1937. They operated Doyon's Furniture Exchange and she was the owner of the store up to her retirement. She has served as a volunteer at the Catholic Medical Center Gift Shop for 22 years and was also an Associate. Mrs. Doyon was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Manchester and a member of St. Anne Sodality of which she held the post of Secretary for seven years. She was also a member of the church choir for numerous years. For many years she served as the hostess for the Watermelon Club at St. Andrews Church. She was a member of the Prime Time Center for healthy aging and A.A.R.P. Also for many years she served as a volunteer at Our Place, an adolescent pregnancy program providing hand sewn clothes and blankets for newborns. She was the widow of Andrea Doyon who died in 1969. Family members include a son, Roger Doyon of Hampstead, two daughters, Miss Ginette Doyon of Pasadena, California and Mrs. Gerard (Andree) Godbout of Moultonboro, NH, four grandchildren, Mark Godbout of Powder Springs, Georgia, Lance Godbout of Lilitz, Pennsylvania, Matthew and Leslie Doyon, both of Hampstead, two great grandchildren, Ashley and Amber Godbout of Powder Springs, Georgia, also many nieces, nephews from both Canada and the United States. SERVICES: Calling hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10 o'clock in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to ''Our Place'' Teenage Pregnancy and Parenting Program, c/o Charlene, 323 Franklin Street, Manchester, NH 03104.
